Free MLB Picks Friday July 14, 2023
It’s time to start our MLB betting journey for the second half of the season! I’ve got 2 baseball picks to share with you regarding Friday’s slate of games, July 14.
First, let me say a few words about the first half of the season. Things have not gone the way we had hoped. I have shared 288 MLB bets, and those plays yielded a 142-146 record.
That’s not good enough compared to last year where we made good money. However, it’s not an ugly outcome either, and we have plenty of time to make it up and finish in profit territory.
Don’t miss out on the action because I am very confident we can finish the season strong together!
All right, are you ready for the top two MLB picks for Friday July 14? They are coming up in a few seconds?
SYSTEM PICK #1: Miami Marlins (@ +104 odds, at Baltimore Orioles)
Pick number one goes to a slight underdog: I am taking the Miami Marlins in Baltimore.
Sandy Alcantara will be squaring off with Dean Kremer. The 2023 National League Cy Young winner has had a disappointing first half of the season with a mediocre 4.72 ERA. The league average in terms of the reliable WHIP statistic is 1.30, while Alcantara’s number sits at 1.25. That means he has been a bit better than average. As a comparison, Kremer’s WHIP stat stands at 1.37, so he’s been a bit worse than average.
Just like our MLB betting picks, I am hopeful that Alcantara can end the year on a solid note. He faced some tough offensive lineups lately: the Phillies, the Braves, the Red Sox and the Blue Jays. I expect him to be up to the task on Friday night at Camden Yards.
The key factor that made me pick Miami in this meeting is the fact that we’ve got three betting systems all pointing in the direction of the Marlins! One of them has performed very well over the past several years: “The Hot Teams Matchup #1”. It suggests taking the road team if they have won at least one game in a row whenever they are facing a home squad coming off at least four straight wins. In this case, Miami has picked up the W on two consecutive occasions, while the Orioles are riding a five-game winning streak.
The other two betting strategies backing Miami are “The Blowout #2” and “The Hot Bats”. I have to admit they are not the systems I trust the most, but having so many signs designating the same team has enticed me to take a shot on the Marlins!
SYSTEM PICK #2: Los Angeles Angels (@ -150 odds, vs Houston Astros)
My second MLB pick for Friday July 14 goes to the Los Angeles Angels!
You guys know how much I love Shohei Ohtani who helped me rack up more than 10,000 dollars in profit when I was screaming at everybody to bet him to win the AL MVP Award in 2021 at +3000 odds. My man Ohtani will be starting Friday night against divisional rivals.
The Angels were probably one of the happiest teams in the Big Leagues to enter the All-Star Break. They stumbled toward the end of the first half of the season by winning just one of their final 10 games. Now, they will come back refreshed and with a better positive mind, especially with their ace pitcher on the mound.
Ohtani provides a good edge in terms of the pitching duel. I know that J.P. France has done a good job for the Astros so far, but I would not be surprised if the 28-year-old rookie falls flat during the second portion of the season. He has just 48 strikeouts in 66 innings and that will eventually hurt him. France faced the Angels once this year, a game in which he surrendered just one run in seven innings. I believe it will be payback time, and L.A. will be better prepared to hit him hard.
I believe the revenge factor also applies regarding Ohtani. He faced the Astros twice this year, and he lost both meetings by allowing five and three runs respectively. This time, I believe he will limit their offense.
The betting angle called “The Cold Teams #2” is also supporting the Angels. It advises to bet the home team if they have lost at three four games in a row when they are squaring off against a road team coming off either 1, 2 or 3 straight losses. The Angels qualify since they have lost 5 in a row, whereas Houston is coming off one loss.
So far this season, this nice betting strategy has led to an 8-6 record with average odds a +107.
In other words, we have taken more underdogs than favorites, and yet, we have obtained a 57% success rate. Sounds good to me! Give me the Angels to kick off the second half of the season on the right foot.
Let's crush the bookies together!!!
