Free MLB Picks Wednesday June 7, 2023

17 straight wins by « The Scoring Drought” betting system in Major League Baseball! Yesterday, the Tampa Bay Rays fit under this strategy, and it racked up more profit after they cruised to an easy 7-0 victory. Yes sir!

Today I want to discuss four potential bets in baseball with you. They are all backed by at least one of my 19 MLB betting angles. Are you ready for this? Let’s go!!!

SYSTEM PICK #1: Oakland A's (@ +165 odds, at Pittsburgh Pirates)

System pick number one goes to Oakland A’s as pretty big underdogs this afternoon in Pittsburgh. Is this an official pick, a lean, or a play to avoid? Let’s dig deeper.

Oakland is supported by “The Blowout #1” system that suggests betting a team that dismantled the same opponent the day before by a margin of at least eight runs. Given the A’s won 11-2 yesterday, they qualify.

I am very tempted by this bet, even though the A’s are an awful team. Last week, I praised Hogan Harris and he delivered another good outing. In his past two starts, he has allowed a total of two runs in 10 innings. He will face Roansy Contreras, who has been a hit-or-miss this season. During the month of May, he has posted a 6.04 ERA.

In the end, I will grade it as a lean, but it is possible that I change my mind later this morning and switch it to an official wager. Those of you who signed up for a paid plan at mjpicks.com will get an email and SMS if that happens.

In my humble opinion, Oakland has been playing better baseball of late. They have won a couple of games against the Braves, they destroyed Pittsburgh yesterday, and they lost three tight games in the past week. They are headed in the right direction.

Final decision: Lean (perhaps an official pick later???)

SYSTEM PICK #2: Minnesota Twins (@ +124 odds, at Tampa Bay Rays)

The second MLB system pick for today June 7 goes to the Minnesota Twins, based on “The Cold Team versus Hot Team Matchup” strategy.

The pitching duel is the main reason why you might want to consider putting money on Minnesota. Pablo Lopez owns a disappointing 4.54 ERA, but his 1.16 WHIP statistic is very strong. He has done better than what most people think. He also continues to rack up many punchouts: he has obtained 86 in 71 innings thus far this season.

Shawn Armstrong will likely start for the Rays, followed by Cooper Criswell as the bulk reliever. The latter has not done well this year, and he is likely to get hammered by the Twins’ bats. After giving it more thoughts, I have decided to make it my first official pick for today. Go Twins!.

Final decision: Official pick

SYSTEM PICK #3: Cincinnati Reds (@ +145 odds, vs Los Angeles Dodgers)

We have a couple of teams that qualify under “The Comeback” betting strategy. How does this work?

Suppose a team came back from a deficit of at least four runs to win yesterday’s game. If their moneyline today is better than -175 and they are facing the same squad, bet them.

Yesterday, the Reds trailed 8-to-3 against the Dodgers before storming back for an exciting 9-8 victory.

Since they are indeed facing L.A. again, and their moneyline is much better than -175, “The Comeback” betting angle is pointing in their direction today. Cincinnati represents today’s third system pick. However, I don’t fee comfortable with this bet so I’m going to pass.

Final decision: Avoid

SYSTEM PICK #4: Los Angeles Angels (@ -136 odds, vs Chicago Cubs)

The other team that meets those criteria for betting is the Los Angeles Angels, who will be hosting the Cubs. This time, this potential wager is MJ approved! I like it as an official betting play.

The Angels are a better team than the Cubs, and they are at home. Please note that the Cubs have struggled on the road this season via an 11-18 record.

Still, we are getting a very reasonable price on the Angels. That must indicate the Cubs have the superior starting pitcher, right? Not necessarily…

I am not convinced at all that Jameson Taillon is more reliable than Jaime Berria. The latter owns a jaw-dropping 1.00 WHIP statistic, after getting a 1.03 figure last year. The 26-year-old hurler is clearly making some very nice strides towards his development.

My only concern is the fact that Taillon finally enjoyed a good outing five days ago. Can he build momentum off of that performance? We’ll find out soon.

But prior to this game, Taillon had allowed four runs or more on four consecutive occasions, which is something to be ashamed of. Give me the Angels to pick up the W as my second official pick for today!

Final decision: Official pick
